Norse Gods veruses High Tech Elixir

The dream this morning takes place in a large hall. I am flanked by Norse gods. Thor is standing by my right and Loki is to my left. Loki's right hand has a firm grasp on my left arm and in my hands I am holding a drinking vase with two long handles on either side.  The gods are dressed in a mix of ancient warrior gear and contemporary fashion. The gods have brought me here and desire to take me before their Father Odin to give an accounting for some perceived transgression on my part.

Loki is particularly upset over something that I, as a mortal, should not be allowed or be able to do. What have I done? Well, the vase is what all the fuss is about. I have combined old world magic with modern science and created a unique form of life extension technology. The vase looks like an ordinary vessel for pouring wine, but incorporated into the vase is machinery, it works in tandem with the magical elixir in it. Together the vase and the potion will extend an ordinary human's life for tens of thousands of years. It is not immortality, but something very close to it.

The Norse gods find it an offense that mortals would have the means to live almost as long as they do. They do not want any humans around that might become rivals to them. Loki intends to march me before Odin and have him judge me for my transgression. I nervously look around at the gods and wake up.

I did some online research about Loki to try and understand more about his role in this dream. So I found a reference to an epic Norse poem called Lokasenna ("Loki's quarrel"). It basically is a story of when Loki shows up uninvited to a drinking party with gods, elves and mortals. Loki kills someone, is chased away, returns, and then makes a nuisance of himself.

I mention this titbit of information because it echoes somewhat my own dream. I am at a Norse drinking fest and here is Loki with a grip on my arm, and he surely wants to stir up trouble, and he looks like he wants to kill me!

I swear I have had no conscious awareness of Norse mythology. I barely no anything about these old gods. I think if I dig more I may find even more startling revelations and connections. I suspect there might be some genetic memory of the old tales hidden in my ancestral DNA.  It makes me wonder.

The only other thing I might offer, in the way of analysis, is that there might be some quest, or search for perfection going on in me if I want to become like one of the gods using science and magic. I sure am uppity for a mere mortal.

The gods are a lot like parents. They are twice as tall and speak with power, and authority. Interesting that I want to be like them. What does that say about me?

Clearly this dream requires some research and is asking me to consider some crazy ideas about myself. I am going to sleep on this one and think more deeply about it.
