The Caravel with Books and Accidents

The dream this morning takes on a sailing ship. This ship is of a particular design and time period. It is a caravel ship of 15th century Portuguese design and was favored by world explorers like Christopher Columbus.

All around this ship in a dense fog. It is like we are in the clouds or heaven. I see an angel seated up in the bow. He has blonde hair and is short, and rotund. There are benches lined up on deck and on them I see dozens of white robed people packed tightly together holding books and reading intently. Myself, I am, up on the stern deck wearing a white tunic watching the angel, with a book in my right hand, watching all the souls, with bowed heads, reading books.

The angel telepathically explains to me his purpose of being is to teach and watch over these souls while they endlessly read books in the afterlife. The books are all works of fiction. Apparently there are life lessons and truths to be learned from reading works other than nonfiction. The angel is there to guide, teach and protect these student souls.

I am watching all this up on the stern deck. This is where a captain might sit. The white tunic I am wearing reminds me of roman clothing.

There is a young dark haired boy seated next to me . He is a young soul. He died on earth when he was small. He seems so out of place here. I instinctively know he is bored and restless. His true nature is to explore and be adventurous. It seems ironic we are on a ship originally built for exploration. I feel great pity for the lad. This current assignment seems inappropriate and cruel.

So I am not surprised by what happens next. The youth jumps ship portside! He walks away, on what apparently is a solid surface, and all I can see is his head as he zigzags through the fog, which whispers, and swirls around him. Next, I see the angel, up in the bow. He stands up and throws a yellow rubber ball at the lad. The ball comically bonks him in the head and head, and he descends. The boy has come back to earth to be born again. This ship and it's books was only a temporary holding spot for him. Such a restless and curious boy was meant for bigger and greater things.

Suddenly, I hear over on the starboard side a woman cry out. A window opens up in the fog and I see a woman in her 30's with whitish hair. She is peering out the left side of a tangled wrecked car. The car was in an accident. The woman has died in this car crash and she does not comprehend she has passed away. An angel floats over to her to comfort her. A flock of angels swarm out of nowhere to extract her from the wreckage to bring her aboard our vessel.

The woman was the mother of the small boy who had just left for earth. It is curious the timing of all this! It gives me much to ponder about. God has a plan and reasons known only to Himself for doing such things.

There is still more to see on this highway of death on the starboard side. A heavy man is trying to cross the highway on foot. Cars whisk by going to and fro. The man dodges them and eventually lies flat on the road to avoid being hit directly on. Cars drive over him and miss him. His body becomes stiff and literally freezes to the pavement. He dies in place. The angel that spoke to the woman earlier now speaks to the dead man. Unfortunately, the man is gripped in fear, and his too afraid to leave the highway with the angel. The man does not understand he has died. He cannot move on. I wake up from the dream at this point.

I turn to my wife, in bed, and I tell her that I think the boy in the dream will be our son. I do not share any of the details of the dream with her. She is content only to know that I optimistically believe she will become pregnant. This news leaves her very happy. I pray that it will be true.

Last night I was almost hit by a black SUV when walking to my car from inside a gas station. I narrowly avoided getting hit and just jumped out of the path of it in the nick of time. The driver briefly stopped at the gas pumps and then quickly sped away from the scene without getting out to fuel up. I followed after him in my car and lost him on the highway. I could have been killed by that guy!

There is a lot in this dream to unpack. Truthfully, I don't want to dissect it. I am content to let it speak for itself. Life can be over in an instant. What lies on the other side is a mystery. The lesson seems to me to read more, worry less and watch my ass while driving and watch for angels as they come 'unawares' as the bible says.
