Baby in Danger Dream

The dream on this occasion occurred during a late afternoon nap. Sometimes, these dreams that occur outside my usual sleep cycles, seem to have a flavour all their own. They do tend to be shorter and the plots seem to be all over the map.

I see a slim blond women about 5'7''. The woman looks tired and haggard and is in her early thirties. She is in the attic of an old house. The attic is sparsely furnished. I see a queen size bed, a dresser and a baby crib. There is one window letting light in. The infant in the crib is a baby girl, about one year of age.  The child is wearing a white one piece and a white bonnet.

The woman had this baby alone on her own and for whatever reason is trying to keep it a secret. There are three men down stairs in the old Victorian house. The house belongs to the tall one with dark hair in his early forties. Something about these guys does not feel right. They are up to no good! One is in his early twenties. He is skinny and looks like a rat. The other is a short, fat and a lazy lout. This one is in fact not entirely human. The tall man has stated to the woman that his associate is a demon in human form. The man has taken this demon on as his servant and has been greatly disappointed over the quality of what he got. The demon has served him poorly and has been more a liability than an asset. This dream, at this stage, is turning into some sort of strange H.P. Lovecraft short story.

There is something special about this baby girl. The father might be someone famous and influential and does not know he has fathered a child. I shudder to think what is going to happen to this precious child.

The dream then takes a weird turn here. I see the mother being confronted in the attic by a woman from Child Protective Services. This woman is upset about the living conditions for the baby. She threatens to take the baby away. However, she does something nutty, that only a bureaucrat would do, she hands the mother a letter to give to the infant to read. It is a form that asks the child if she wishes to leave her living situation and if she is willing to become a ward of the state. What? The is beyond absurd and ridiculous! Only a faithful government hack could think to do such a stupid thing and think that it might work. It is at this point that I wake up.

All through my day, as I go about my business, I see pregnant woman. It is like a sign from the universe or something. These women are really showing. Every where I turn, I see, another one that looks like the baby will arrive at any minute! I kept thinking this is important and you better pay attention.

My fiancĂ©, Hakima, often mentions about having babies with me and I want to have those babies with her. The dream, I think, is tapping into fears I have long had about bringing children into the world. There are lots of sick evil people in this world. I have always had a sixth sense about who or what is evil, and where it is hiding. I function in a state with my eyes and senses constantly open to it. Sometimes, I want to run away screaming in horror.

The setting of the attic certainly reminds me of the Anne Frank story again. She and her family, and friends hid in a similar fashion and location. That book still haunts my unconscious. I am both happy and sorry I ever read it. I dove into it for a book club reading knowing full well it would forever disturb me greatly in profound and unanticipated ways.

There is more to consider about this dream than I first thought. I will meditate on this. The universe and my conscious may have much to reveal if I ask the right questions. This was not the simple dream I took it to be. There is either a message or a warning wrapped up in this one, I feel certain of it.
