M60 Machine Gun Dreams

The dream this morning stars the all American general-purpose, U.S. armed forces machine gun! First introduced in 1957, it has served in every branch of the military, it fires 7.62x51mm NATO cartridges. This venerable weapon system is slowly being replaced by M240 variants since the early 1990's, but it still finds active service in all branches of the U.S military.

I see my old army buddy Dan ,in my dream, Dan is slowly and steadily obtaining the parts of an M60 machine gun. His plan is to build one piece by piece until he has a fully assembled a working M60 machine gun. Eventually, Dan succeeds, I see him in my dream go month to month putting on one part after another. Dan knows people and is a very tech-savvy guy. He scours the internet and can be very resourceful at finding what he is looking for and has a talent for making great challenges look easy.

In the end, I see Dan with his finished built gun, and he is eager to test it out. Dan does something rather foolish though, he decides he can't wait, and he wants to fire it off in the army warehouse where he works! That's not a good idea, Dan! I see him setting up a firing point complete with sandbags and he has created a firing lane with a huge 6'x6' target at the far end of the warehouse. Dan yells out to his fellow co-workers to step to the left of his firing lane to give him a clear shot at his target. They quickly scurry out of his way. This is when I wake up just before he is about to fire, and I am sure, get caught and sent to Leavenworth! Ha! Ha!

Of course, Dan would never do such a thing, but it is funny to consider him behaving in such an odd way. The seed of this dream I am certain was planted in a conversation I heard at work with some former military veterans. They were talking about weapons they worked with while on active duty. It is interesting how my unconscious keyed right into the subject and has played it back in my dreams. I thought I had forgotten that whole conversation, I had deemed it interesting, but not worthy of my continued attention. The unconscious is always operating in the background outside of our awareness and constantly takes in information, and operates in mysterious and sometimes bizarre ways. This dream is a reminder of that.

My friend Dan had a dream and that dream was to have his own M60. I have my own dream and that is to marry my sweetheart and build us a home. Dan's mission to get his own machine gun and his stead fast resolve to get it done is an example for me to follow to fulfil my own dream. This is my take way from this dream. Dan set the template for me. His approach was to his beloved step by step and one piece at a time. So far that his somewhat my method to reach my goal of marrying my sweetheart. I take one step at a time. I have taken on the hard parts of the task first and slowly worked at getting the easier parts done too to reach our goal. The final part, I am also reminded by dream Dan is to not do something stupid to jeopardize everything once I've gotten it. I must keep all of this in mind as the special day a looms ever closer.
