Swaddled Baby Kitten
The dream this morning is definitely a weird one and my wife will kill me if she ever reads this blog. I can see my wife in our bed. She has been pregnant and has now given birth. However, it is not a normal human child but a baby kitten she has given birth to. The "baby" is swaddled in a towel and she proudly hands it to me. I am startled and wake up.
My wife and I have been trying to have a baby for almost a year now with no success. It means so much to both of us, especially my wife, to have a baby. The stress of this has caused much strain on our marriage.
A few days ago my step mother bought my wife a teddy bear. Hakima and I did some role playing pretending it to be our child. I felt a little silly, but it was a useful exercise for getting in touch with my thoughts and feelings in regards to becoming a father.
So what does this about a baby kitten mean? Well, kittens are lovable, adorable and independent. This could indicate a desire to connect to my nurturing feminine side. From the male point of view it suggests a desire for a sexual encounter. I sense elements of both are at play here, the themes of sex and reproduction are all bundled up in this dream, literally and figuratively.
I don't know what else to say about this dream. It is a weird one. The only other thing that comes to mind is that with the kitten it suggests a latent desire to have a daughter. Cats are generally regarded as a female archetype.
This one is another one of those dreams I will re-examine in a year's time and it will be revealed then what the heck this dream was all about. I will get some insight or something related to it will happen and I will have an "aha" moment. I am sure of it.
