Well, I had not done much dreaming lately my life has been in a very active transition. I have moved to a new city and a new job. My sleep has been fitful as I adjust to my new environment. Last night we experienced a monsoon-like thunderstorm and the power went out briefly several times. The dream this morning was a simple short one that has left me very hungry. In my dream I see a juicy freshly grilled steak and hot steaming baked potato on a plate. It occurs to me that I absolutely must have some sour cream for my potato. I look in the fridge and I have two options: one, I can use tiny one ounce packets of sour cream, or two, I can use the pint size container of sour cream. I choose the latter and put judicious dollops of sour cream on my potato. This dinner looks mouth-watering good! I wake up before I can even take a bite.
The housemate, Kal, and I have been living very frugally since I moved in and I have been eating mostly cans of soup or fast food. We have not been able to afford the nicer things since setting up house. This dream needs to be a premonition dream, if any dream, should be. The fourth of July weekend is coming and a delicious streak would be very appropriate. I get my first pay check on this day as well. I must make plans to make this a reality.
This dream hints at (1) what the future may hold. (2) Coming relief. (3) earnings and prosperity. In this dream I see the grilled steak and potato, but I don't actually, get to eat it. This suggests that I will get to dine at a future time, and that the time, has not yet arrived. Coming relief? Well, this indicates that my hunger awaits to be relieved. This hunger could be both literal and metaphorical. Earnings and prosperity? Steak is an expensive rare treat. Hard work will yield earnings and prosperity will need to manifest if a steak dinner is to be enjoyed.
The baked potato and sour cream adds even further emphasis to the coming earnings and prosperity point. Potatoes must be dug up from the earth. Labour is involved in the process in order to get to enjoy them. So much work is ahead, but there is a reward ahead, for our labour. The sour cream indicates that benefits will be reaped, but it will come with a cost. I can receive a little or a lot. The choice will be mine to make. I can take a large portion or a small one. Someone may complain, one way or the other, about the amount I have used. Have I used my fair share or have I taken too much and denied someone else their portion of the sour cream to enjoy?
Overall, the dream is a good omen, but devil is in the details, hard work and patience will yield favourable results. The caution is to not overreach and abuse my good fortune I think.
