Alaska Power Trip
The dream today had me back way up north in Alaska. It is Summer. I meet up with a couple who are off on the fringes of civilization. The man is short and in his 40's and looks like he's 60. He has a scraggily slightly greying beard and is wearing an old army jacket. The woman is tall blond and very strong. I meet these people just outside some small town in the Alaska bush. They have built a small rough primitive cabin under some high tension power lines. The man explains to me that the power company, by law, cannot evict anyone who homesteads beneath a power line especially anyone who seasonally migrates or is of native descent. The power lines are the highways for people like them who move about the State all year round. The goal is to go where they can find food, live off the land or find temporary jobs to make ends meet.
In this dream I am a wanderer and I travel far and wide. I was pointed to this couple, in town, as an option as a place to sleep free for the night. The couple graciously allowed me to put my sleeping bag down next to their camp stove for the night.
The following morning the man and woman invite me along on a hike. The woman has a cart and a small goat on a chain. The plan is to hike out to a recently abandoned lumber camp. The woman will pick berries and the husband and I will cut lumber. We get there to find the saw mill still works and the building is full of wood working tools. The camp had been there a hundred years and everything was left there like the men would pick up working the very next day. It still had that lived in quality and the elements had not yet taken a visible toll on the place.
The main building was filled with tools of every shape, size and function hanging on the walls, incredibly, there were many antique hand tools every where about the mill. The man and I, actually, spend many hours exploring and inspecting the place. The woman eventually joins us when she finishes picking berries. Suddenly, I see her jump up onto a work bench and walk toward a piece of equipment and look up into the rafters. She becomes alarmed and yells for us to get out of the building. Apparently she sees something that convinces her that the building is about to collapse! The three of us run for a exit. This is when I wake up.
A quick look at the astrology this week and we see that the Sun and Neptune are conjunct in Aries. The Sun represents the ego and being extroverted, and Neptune represents being rebellious and eccentric. This Alaskan couple in the wilderness certainly reflect a sense of freewill and rebelliousness. They are anima and animus or yin and yang symbols within the dream.
Now Aries is a passionate fiery kind of sign and is driven, and you think of Aries as a pushy little goat kind of thing. The energy is going to breakout and be pushing forward this week. How appropriate that the woman has the goat by the chain. My lover, Hakima, is an Aries. She is a spunky little fireball. Ha, ha!!! The Moon and Jupiter are conjunct in the 12th house in Cancer. This suggests an easy expansion in terms of the emotional and the spiritual side. April is shaping up to become quite the experience. The dream is foreshadowing some of what is ahead this month, of this, I am certain.
The power lines and the lumbering tools are symbolic as well. There is a cosmic power available this month and the tools are at hand to tap into it. It is significant in my mind that the woman detects a possible hazard in this building we have entered. I must pay close attention to where I am and what I am doing, and to heed what advice my girl, the anima, gives me this week.
