Free, Fall, Fly!!!

I have just awoken from the most amazing dream today! I must write it here while it is still fresh within my mind. My horoscope for today had said to pay attention to my dreams on this day as they would be psychically most important for me.

One of the most wonderful elements of dream life is the ability to literally fly like a bird. The rules of physics need not apply in the dream world. Actually, pretty much no rules at all need apply in the dream world. In this dream today I am apart of  an ensemble of seven people. We have become like a team of super heroes, sort of like Captain American and the Avengers, only we are just ordinary people with no extraordinary powers or expensive government gadgets. Our team leader is the actor, Matthew McConaughey, and our small group is a rebel alliance that is fed up and unsatisfied with our dull, boring and mundane lives. We are middle aged people working in a retail store and decide we need to break free from what is demanded and expected in our lives. We hike on a journey to the top of the world. The world here is the crater of an extinct mega volcano. We have travelled to top of the volcano which reaches to the edge of space.

We are all dressed in jumpsuits and goggles. You would think we were all going to go parachuting, but we are such nonconformists that we reject parachutes, we don't need no stinking parachutes!  Damn it! We are going to fly like the birds! We glide and swoop, and defy all rules! Even the law of gravity.

When we have reached the crater rim I can see McConaughey turn to give me a side glance and say, "Let's go! To hell with the bosses and those bastards down there! We can do this!" One by one we leap off the platform, and dive head first down into the world below. We fall weightlessly at first and pick up speed as we approach the city at the bottom of the crater. I see the store in which we work. It becomes like one of those Escher prints with upside down stairways and doorways that function at all angles. Shoppers with carts mill about like zombies looking for great deals on merchandise. Meanwhile, my companions and I break into song to them all. The dream becomes a musical! "Don't be bland and don't be dull, break from your chains and be unconventional! Hey, young black man why do you basket ball? Who told you to do what's expected, do what you want and don't feel neglected!" The team and I barrel down at breakneck speed and out the store and glide down through a lush green tropical jungle canopy to the forest floor. I see a couple of inspired young black teen boys have flown their own bicycles down with us to the landing zone. I wake up with a feeling of pure joy and exhilaration!

This dream certainly captures a feeling I have in my heart to embrace the more fun aspects of living. Every day I work hard and seem only to be treading water as far as paying my bills and not having much time or little opportunity to really play in a carefree way. There is definitely an aspect of my psyche that wants to live life on my own terms and not be subject to the tyranny of having to work to survive, and being subject to the demands of other people or harsh circumstances. I am sick to death of followings orders and doing "mandatory" things, and being beat over the head over the errors I have committed or the choices I have made. Today, for one brief moment, I got to be free of all that. I got to fly!!! God, it felt wonderful!!!

The symbols in this dream are revealing. The world is very much like an extinct volcano in a metaphorical way. It has gone dormant. Perhaps, one day it will re-ignite, destroy the civilization in it's heart and if some remnants escape, will establish it's self once again. Zombie shoppers are what I see in the waking life too. I work third shift stocking store shelves in the waking world. If a see a customer they are either stoned or half awake. Why Mathew Mcconaughey?  Well, he did do voice over work for the Peace Corps. He seems like such a big hearted, free spirited, fun loving kind of guy. I think he would be just the sort of man, to say what he said here, and lead a group of wounded, and dissatisfied misfits like us over a cliff.  He did it in the movie, "We are Marshall!", why not in my dream?

What's the larger message here? I don't know for sure, but damn, it sure was a fantastic dream! I want to fly like Superman! I want to tell the world to stop being so damn serious all the time. Life is short so give me a damn break, will ya? I'm going back to sleep at least there I can enjoy myself. Ok, Obama, go ahead bomb Syria. Good luck with world war three you doofus. I'm taking a nap and I will be taking a break from watching you screw up our world...
