Beneath the Aquarium

Yesterday's dream had me on the mountain top and this morning the dream took me beneath the waters. The dream begins at night. I am driving a company vehicle to a construction site outside a school. The vehicle is a Chevy Suburban truck. I park along side a huge bull dozer in a grove of trees. The whole area outside the school has been cleared by earth moving equipment. Well, apparently some new construction is going to go up near the school. It will be morning in a few hours. I decide to stretch out on the seat and catch up on some sleep. It was very uncomfortable.

I wake up in the morning and I hear someone else in the far back of the Suburban. It's a kid! He is about 12 years old. He is doing homework on a laptop computer. I talk with him awhile and he explains that he is a homeless student at the school, and my vehicle was a good spot to get out of the weather, and work on his homework. It was a shock to find him in my truck. I am not angry and out of sympathy I take him to breakfast at a nearby donut shop.

After some coffee and donuts we go back over to the school. The kid goes to class and I get to work. My mission for today is to work on the plumbing of a pool size aquarium. The school owns this aquarium. It is operated by the staff and students. It is an impressive research facility and a public attraction. They seem to be having some problems with the filtration system. I have been called in to see what can be done.

I am walking down a passageway beneath the aquarium. I am inspecting plumbing and mechanical systems, as I go along, when I see two young boys. They seem to be students that are part of the program but there are no instructors around and they are up to some mischief. They are talking on cell phones to other students up above with fishing gear and they are working together to catch some fish. The boys down below are helping those above to zero in on certain fish at the bottom of the aquarium. The clever little bastards!  There is one fish that looks like a pink flounder with dark spots that they seem to be intent on catching. They get it to bite.

I follow the boys as they proceed to the end of the passageway and out a side service exit. I walk through with them and I see there are other boys there they close, and lock a large swinging door behind us all. I quiz the boys on what they are up to. They confess they are having some illicit fun. The school principal is very authoritarian and makes them work hard. The principal and their instructors were away for some reason, and they rebelliously decided to exploit the situation.

I was once a kid who loved to fish too. I smile and I decide to play Sergeant Schultz and say, "I see nothing! I know nothing!" and then I wake up.

This was a fun dream. Interesting that I'm dreaming about kids again. Lately, I have been wanting to get back in touch with being a happier more playful child like person. Life has been so damn serious for so damn long and it is the middle of Summer. I so would love to go fishing, but I am a serious adult, I have no money and the new job starts tomorrow. Chances are I will not get to do any fishing this year. I'm glad I got to let these boys have some bad fun!

I have been craving donuts too! So many of life's sinful luxuries have been out of reach here of late. It sucks not having any money. A latte and a pastry would be bliss right now. My cravings are  going to be delayed for at least two weeks. I know I got it bad when they show up in my dreams! Sigh!! I'm like that guy on life raft or a castaway on some desert island who dreams of food. Time to stop here before it drives me crazy. Oh believe me! An apple is not going to fix this addiction today. Ha, ha!!
