The dream this morning had a rather unusual vibe today. In my dream I saw a dog. This dog was a very unique mixed breed of dog. It was half Siberian Husky and half Pit Bull. I have never seen a dog like this. My fiancé, Haki, and I are standing outside a long barracks like building. There is an open window and it is dark inside. There is a small crowd of very serious looking people. I think they are scientists. They are mostly men and a few women. They are dressed casually.
All of a sudden this unusual dog jumps out the window between us. The canine is calm, friendly and panting. I lift him up onto a nearby picnic table and I examine all his features just like any dog show judge might do to ascertain the quality of the breed. I can see extraordinary intelligence behind those penetrating electric blue eyes. His head is just like that of a Siberian Husky but it has the powerful jaw and the goofy grin of a Pit Bull. There are two small distinctive and puzzling one inch long curled licks of hair on both sides of the neck. The confirmation of the body is very much like that of a pit bull, but covered with slightly thick dark course hair.
I look to Haki and I say to her that I think we should adopt this dog if we can. I feel compelled to take him home. Haki is not sure if it is a good idea. He may be someone's dear pet. The small crowd of scientists have the strangest mixed look of panic and horror on their faces! They all stand there mute, not saying a word. Something clearly strange is going on here. They all are either to afraid to say something and/or to fearful to react. This is when I wake up and out of the dream.
This dream is like the opening scene to some kind of sci-fi horror movie or something. It has an air of mystery about it. I am not exactly sure what to make of it. This combination of dog breeds is like nothing I have ever seen. What an odd combination this would make in the waking life! You would have the endurance and heart of a Husky combined with the strength and loyalty of the Pit. Pits are really sweethearts, in spite of what the news media, and popular opinion might suggest. It is only training or abuse that turns them into vicious killers.
The archetype of the dog is one of faithful and unquestioning loyalty. You see this in all the stories and movies. It is a fundamental aspect of most dogs to conform to this archetype. It is their basic nature. It is true! The dog is called man's best friend for a good reason!
It is interesting that the dog leaps between us and that, Haki, is reluctant to go along with my idea to adopt him. I believe the crowd of scientist looking on is influencing her judgement. Their panicked and fearful looks are causing her to have self doubts. This is metaphorical to things going on in the waking life. Haki's close friends are putting doubts in her mind concerning my character, my love for her and the seriousness of my intentions to marry her. They are playing the devil's advocate and want to assume the worst case scenario. It seems they want to tamp her expectations and soften her disappoint should I fail. Oh, Jesus!
My love for Haki is faithful and I am loyal to her without question. I may be judged a mutt, with defects, but I am a dependable companion. I am in this race to win, like every sled dog, and I can fight like a loyal Pit Bull should the need arise! And that is my take away lesson from this dream!
