A Rocky Mountain High Drop Off

The dream this morning sure has me scratching my head. This was quite the strange trip! Some force or power has taken me and dropped me in the middle of the Colorado Rockies. My self and my clothes are dirty. I have a scruffy grey beard and a large backpack, and bed roll. I am a homeless veteran hundreds of miles away from any civilization. I realize I want and need to get home. So I get up and start hiking. This journey could take me many days perhaps even months.

I am in some rugged terrain. I see mountains in every direction. I must make my way east through the mountain passes to the Colorado front range. There is where the people and civilization lies. It is a long journey across the remote wilderness. Every day I get a little closer and closer. Until finally, one day, I come to a steep winding paved road leading to a huge building. This building was once a humongous corporation office but now it is a shopping mall with apartments. I wander through a deserted section of the building for days. The building is that large, until I finally see people. They stare at me in horror and disgust, as I walk past, I am an awful sight. I make my way out the front entrance into the bright sunshine. I am in Colorado Springs! I have reached civilization! I see stores and green trees, and lots of people. I feel a sense of urgency. My goal is to get across town to find my family. I have no money, so I know, I will just have to keep walking. We made it this far so a little more walking is no big deal.

I walk past a barber shop. The owner suddenly comes out. He is looking up in the sky and pointing at something. It is a UFO! A crowd is forming. One guy says, "Oh, that is just the International Space Station, no big deal!" The barber and the crowd are unconvinced. I just keep walking. I'm on a mission to get home. I see lots of traffic. There are city buses and semi-trucks speeding past me. I adjust my pack, put my head down and power forward. I need to get home! Then I wake up.

So who is responsible for plopping me down in the middle of the remote wilderness with only the clothes on my back and some camping gear? God? The government? Extra-terrestrials? I don't know. However, it is damn curious that the UFO appears while I'm on the final leg of my journey home. I leave it to the reader to decide. It was quite the ordeal to hike back to civilization. It took everything in me to keep myself going. It was miserable and it felt so real. Was it a future or alternative life? Who can say? All I know is that it was a vivid experience.
