The dream this morning is about Muhammed Ali and ice cream. In this dream I get the news that the famous boxer Mohammed Ali is coming to our town. The Mayor and our Sheriff intend to present The Greatest with an award at a local museum. I am standing across the street from the museum in front of a restaurant. I see streams of people lining up to get into the building to see the Champ.
I get a sudden inspiration. I yell to my friend Dan and his girlfriend Laura to follow me up some stairs to an outdoor kitchen on the balcony of the restaurant. Here I assemble everything I need to create a dessert to fittingly honour the Champ. This cool treat is butter brickle ice cream. It is a toffee flavored ice cream with crushed bits of chocolate covered toffee candy similar to a Heath bar. My creation in the dream is slightly different because I add a touch of honey to the recipe. I call it "Butterfly Brickle & Sting like a Bee". I wink and say to my friends. "This is what will get us past the crowd and security guards, and into the venue to meet the Champ! He is gonna love it!". Then I wake up.
When I was kid the Champ was a hugely popular sports celebrity and butter brickle ice cream was widely available. Well, Muhammed Ali passed away in 2016 and from what I read online the major ice cream brands no longer produce butter brickle ice cream. It makes me sad on both counts. This ice cream might have been well received in Muhammed's hey day and I feel he would have loved the idea.
I have such a craving for ice cream right now. I so want to try to recreate this in real life! I have never made ice cream myself from scratch. I have seen others do it. I am really feeling a creative impulse coming on. I need to do this. I will be on the look out for an old fashion ice cream maker. The old school method still makes the best product bar none.
