The Purple Skulls

The dream this morning was a strange and unpleasant one. The drawing above is the best I could produce for coming up with a representation of what I saw. I am watching a news report on television. A reporter is questioning a man dressed in black and wearing a dark purple hood what his political movement is all about, and who is funding them. I see and hear him respond with, "We are a grassroots movement. No one controls us."

Behind the man a protest parade of his followers moves past going from right to left down a city street. There are men marching all dressed in black with faces covered carrying signs, banners and flags. There are parade floats as well. These are decorated in human skulls which are all dark purple in colour. What I am watching is a twisted sort of version of the Rose Bowl Parade only this one is for "Antifa", the so-called anti-fascists.

I scream back at my TV in rage and sarcasm, " Oh, yeah! Look all these non-controlled nitwits!" Then I wake up.

The whole bit with the floats covered in purple skulls just disturbs the heck out of me. Are we seeing the next evolution of a political movement? The Nazi SS had an obsession with the use of skulls on their uniforms. Antifa has not yet gone down the dark path alluded to in this dream, but unchecked, I could easily see them going in this direction. They are already violent. I have no difficulty imagining they could evolve into some kind of Anarchist death cult.

I don't know what to think about all this. The skulls symbolize danger, evil and death. The colour purple represents healing, devotion, loving kindness and compassion. It is also the colour of high rank, royalty, justice, wealth and dignity. The dream seems a mix of opposites in one image. Are the Antifa thugs perverting the symbolism with the use of the purple colour scheme? Is this dream highlighting an internal struggle between light and dark within me? Am I suppressing something about my shadow self. Man these are some uncomfortable questions. I have no easy answers.

This is a provocative dream. This one disturbs me. I do not want to ponder it.
