Monster Trout

The dream this morning happened after a long night of third shift work. I walked out to my car after punching out and sat in the seat and immediately fell a sleep. I dreamt I was having a conversation with my dad and he was telling me about a species of giant trout that few people have ever seen or knows that it exists. The State of Michigan Department of Natural Resources, my dad tells me, secretly know of it's existence, but publicly deny it and will mock anyone that says they have seen it.

The fish is an enormous trout that are rumoured to be 12 foot long behemoths. Many have claimed to have seen one but most will not shared their stories out of fear of being ridiculed. Monster trout stories get the same amount of respect or credibility that Bigfoot stories do. Without some serious proof, like physical evidence, no one will believe a word of what you have to tell them.

I immediately grab a pole and go fishing, and as luck would have it, I hook on to one of these monsters. I reel him in and when it is close to shore he rises up out of the water and stares at me with an open mouth and glassy eyes. I see it moist with water and it's jaw is working and filled with large sharp teeth. This is when I wake up.

There are all sorts of associations that can be made about this dream and they are positive for the most part. The water, of course, symbolizes emotions and the subconscious. The mind is struggling with deep large matters. There is a pursuit to find answers to penetrating questions. I am using the fishing pole to wrestle with the fish. There is an unexpected surprise on the line.

The trout can be regarded as a fertility symbol. The fish has long been a symbol of Christianity as well. Most of what is seen in this dream portends well. It suggests wealth and well being. I would have liked to have seen the giant fish talk. Perhaps it had something important to share? It seemed like the trout was going to say something important.

The picture above is a statue in downtown Kalkaska, Michigan. I have just returned home from the region of this town. I drove by it and got to see it again for the first time in quite a few years. I have been searching for a new apartment and plan to move. Perhaps, Kalkaska is the place I need to move to? It would be an excellent central location to live with my new job. Maybe this will be the place I land my monster fish? Something to think about.
